Vicky Canham | Registered Acupuncturist (she/her)

My love for acupuncture came when I was struggling with secondary infertility. A close family member of mine had used acupuncture and spoke highly of it, and I had taken Chinese herbs as a teenager. But I didn’t know much about it before my first appointment (this was also in the pre-internet days). I took myself to see a newly qualified acupuncturist who worked locally. It didn’t take long, perhaps one treatment a week for a month and then everything changed for me. The following year my son was born and I credit acupuncture for that.

Before my acupuncture years I worked at a not for profit in Manchester, my hometown. I had studied social policy at university and had also started the process of becoming a counsellor (but my daughter was very young at the time and I was probably biting off more than I could chew).

In 2008 I enrolled at the University of Salford to study TCM Acupuncture - a fantastic 3 years. Soon after I graduated I moved to Canada with my husband and kids to start a new adventure together.

Although I originally focused my practice on fertility, I have, over the years developed a specific interest in using acupuncture for mental wellness. Regardless of the reason for seeking acupuncture, many patients report feeling a sense of calm. I do however operate a general practice and treat a wide range of health concerns.

I am committed to offering acupuncture in a safe and welcoming space where all patients feel at ease.
